How to Choose an EAP Provider
In Summary
Mental health EAP models are as varied and different as the organizations and service providers who construct them. That said, any service will have all or some of the components of the five models mentioned above.
The differences are based on individual organization's views on how best to manage workplace mental health, work life balance and integration, employee engagement and retention.
The primary philosophical dilemma faced by organizations is whether it is wiser to invest their money in the front-end prevention and proactive employee services, or whether it's better to spend their money on employee disability management and health care cost containment to deal with the problem. Perhaps it can best be summarized as proactive versus reactive, or prevention versus triage.
Source Line's view is that employee's engagement, creativity and their collected synthesized social capital are the real products of successful organizations in the 21st century. We believe investment in prevention and positive proactive mental health services and programs for employees yields the largest ROI for their organizations.
